New thoughts on a new painting
I am eternally curious about the basic laws of nature and their effects on elemental materials and human perception, particularly in relation to color. Process-driven and intellectually rigorous, my work is informed by my academic interest in the history and evolution of our understanding of visual perception. I have absorbed the work of pioneering scientists such as Purkinje, Goethe and Newton. Throughout my career I have explored and continue to explore color both intellectually and visually - whether it has been composed of light or of materials. In my recent work I have started exploring the relationship between seeing and sensing; encouraging the latter as a distinct mode of conscious visual perception.
